Ningbo University Held the "Cloud" Council Meeting for Confucius Institutes

On January 15, the 2020 "Cloud" Councils for Northern Light Confucius Institute (NLCI) in Iceland and Confucius Institute at Toamasina University (CITU) in Madagascar were successfully held. Yao Juming, vice president of Ningbo University, Conscient Zafitody, president of Toamasina University, and two Chinese and foreign deans of Confucius Institute participated in the council. The meeting was chaired by Gu Yaodong, Director of the International Office.

On the council meeting, Qi Huimin, Chinese Dean of NLCI, and Pan Feng, Chinese Dean of CITU, respectively introduced the work of Confucius Institute in 2020. NLCI foreign director Marc and CITU Chinese director Pan Feng respectively introduced the financial situation of Confucius Institute in 2020 and the work plan for 2021. The new council members for Confucius Institute were also clarified.

After listening to the report, Yao Juming fully affirmed the work of the two Confucius Institutes in the past year, especially in the context of the epidemic, not only successfully completed the teaching work, but also completed the transfer work. He hopes that after completing the transfer work, Ningbo University and partner universities as the main body of the school will further strengthen communication with Confucius Institute and work together to promote the sustainable development of Confucius Institute; what’s more, to further expand the cooperation between Ningbo University and partner universities, strengthen personnel exchanges, and deepen the multi-field and multi-dimensional cooperation in chemistry and scientific research; finally, to complete the localization of Confucius Institute's teachers, teaching materials and teaching methods, so that Confucius Institutes can better serve local needs.

Conscient Zafitody, the principal of Toamasina University pointed out in his speech that Toamasina University would continue to actively support the construction of the Confucius Institute, hoping to take this platform and continue to provide more opportunities for Madagascar students to study in China. At the same time, he hopes to explore cooperation with Ningbo University in network teaching and other aspects.
